Ning can be a helpful site later possibly. I have not had any experience with this kind of place not being a person who has been on face book ever. Ning would be beneficial for teachers who enjoy bouncing ideas off each other. I wonder how the site will work with a forum platform. Will our district block it ? Time is still a concern I have. My be we can get hours for keeping up with these sites.

I have to admit I checked others out for what to do with this discovery. I used Audacity to create a sound wave and can place them on this blog. I instead decided to go to box.net and use it and my phone to create a short flix that you can click on. Legends of Hollywood. Fun but a little bit harder than most of these assignments.

I have a wide variety of skill level in my computer class. Setting up extra assignments that can challenge student after they finish their work would help with down time in my class. I think students would be willing to go to lets say Photoshop tutorials and do a lesson learning how to alter pictures instead of playing a game. There are many powerpoints that you can set up also.

Looked at minti, google earth, zimdesk and others. All are new to me but signing up for everything is time consuming. Some of them I have used before others were for the first time. Like I have said before this is a good way to get outside of my comfort zone. Surrounded by 4 walls commented that Instantbull.com was a good way to research stocks. I introduce the stock market to my students by having them pick companies and then track their stock over several weeks. We place the information in a spreadsheet and create charts.

How many times have I received a pdf that I could not edit. Now we can create or upload any file and any teacher can make their changes.GoogleDocs gives you that power. If teachers are willing to get out of their comfort zones this could help. Advantages are unlimited disadvantage is the willingness to use something new.

How can you organize your searches any easier. With rollsearch I set mine up for several areas I am interested in. Setting up an account was the hardest part. Now you do not have to rely on just the old standards yahoo!!

I think the potential for Wiki is unlimited. But I do have a concern, teachers already feel stressed with all they have to do now. Maybe we could have an inservice on Wiki which would be helpful. Teachers sharing ideas on a site brain storming new techniques and skills could be GREAT! I am just concerned with the time factor.

I had not thought about there being only one librarian at the school were I work, and her responsibility is to all 2200 student and 200 teachers/aids. She has to be a guide for all our needs. Library 2.0 will certainly help but there will always be a need for a librarian. Policies must change and students will need to be held responsible for the sites they visit.

I used Technorati and see how you can organize your information. What an easy way to group your information. I wonder how useful it will be for different disciplines. Maybe I can get some feed back to help me.
Thing 13
I explored using del.icio.us , Furl and Ma.gnolia . I can see several way to use the bookmarking in group project done during the year. Not only will it assist my students but it can help students in other classes. Being able to bookmark site and then access them from any computer will make things so much easier.

I think you should always treat people or blogs the way you want to be treated. Be respectful of others opinions. I have tried to blog but it just is not in my nature. I understand this is a great way to get to and give information. For me it is very difficult.

First time Library Thing er. I think it is a great way to share information about books. Set my book list up and looked at some of the groups for similar interests. We are always looking for new ways to introduce new ways to teach same information. Having students share book choices can help when working on reports.

Just signed up for google reader. One subscription to sports and there was 35 articles that showed up. It has articles from everywhere.
Thing 7
I have used Google Calendar for some time. IGoogle was something new for me. Being a teacher I added the translate to my page and I will be able to use this with student who come in the room ESL. I have a keyboarding class and sometime students are put in there because there is no other place for them. This will help greatly. I also used Google Earth!!! incredible.
Thing 6
Just spent another hour playing with new information. FD toys is a kick in the tail. Having the students research a trip say to 5 different locations. Air fare, lodging and food cost. I can see a PPT posted in Flickr, and a map created in FD toys. That is not including the spreadsheet. Lots of new stuff.
Thing 5
I found this wonderful picture of a sun set. I wish I could be there right now. I have my student do a presentation on how they think they will see themselves in 10 years. They research what they plan on majoring in college thourgh the BLS. This would be a way to have them share it with everyone in the class. Setting up a slide show for all to see would be great.

I think I have already spent 18 hours just setting this thing up. It is strange but for my sons college on line class I used what I have learned already
Thing 2
I enjoyed the video. My first goal would be to be able to navigate this website. My easiest will be to put what I learn in my class.
